Our Story:
Everything changed on that day.
And at the same time… nothing changed.
The mission was still the mission. The brotherhood was still the brotherhood. The music — the heartbeat that had carried a group of childhood friends from a remote village in northern Sweden to stages across Europe — still refused to be silenced.
Skaburbian began in 2003 in Sunderbyn, far from palm trees, warm pacific nights, or the laid-back surf culture usually tied to Reggae Rock. Yet somehow, through snowstorms, midnight sun, and endless rehearsal-room hours, the band carved out a sound that felt unmistakably coastal — sun-drenched, melodic, and undeniably Californian.
By the mid-2010s they had released four full-length albums, earned a gold award, and built a fiercely dedicated fanbase. They were a northern phenomenon with a southern vibe. And they were just getting started.
Then came December 14th, 2017.
The day their lead singer and guitarist, Kribbe, was found dead.
A gut punch. A silence. A fracture no one knew how to hold.
But Skaburbian was shattered, not destroyed.
“We were a band with Kribbe — and we are a band after that,” the members said. “Quitting isn’t in our DNA. This band and this music is who we are. The mission doesn’t stop.”
So they regrouped. They rebuilt. Slowly the rehearsal room lights turned on again. Guitars were plugged in. Voices warmed up. Memories hurt… but the music healed.
In 2020, they stepped back onstage for their first live show since the tragedy. Then came the comeback single: “Forward.”
A title, a mantra, a promise.
The response was explosive. Skaburbian Collective was reborn.
This is the story of a band that refused to fade. A band that turns grief into groove, loss into uplift, and cold northern nights into warm coastal anthems.
Skaburbian Collective still carries the mission.
Still carries the brotherhood.
Still carries Kribbe.
And once you press play — you’ll feel why we had to keep going.
